A ranking of India’s top universities and colleges, known as the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), will be issued today, September 9. The NIRF India Rankings 2021 will be re-released at midday by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. To be announced in 2021, the NIRF India Ranking will be divided into ten categories: the overall NIRF India Ranking; university; management; college; pharmacy; medical; engineering; architecture; and ARIIA (Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements).
Each category has its own set of NIRF India Ranking factors and weighted averages. For the purposes of ranking colleges and universities, the following major criteria were used: Teaching, Learning & Resources; Research & Professional Practice; Graduation Outcomes; Outreach & Inclusivity; Peer Perception.
The number of institutes participating in the NIRF rankings has expanded with each passing year, as have the categories in which institutes are evaluated. While just four categories of institutes were ranked in 2016, that number has now expanded to nine.
