The abolition of India’s three farm rules has been praised by US Congressman Andy Levin.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Friday that the government has chosen to abolish three farm regulations that have been the subject of farmer protests for the past year, and he urged the protesting farmers to return home.
“Glad to see that the three agriculture laws in India will be overturned after more than a year of opposition,” Congressman Andy Levin said on Friday.
In a tweet, he stated, “This is proof that when workers band together, they can beat corporate interests and achieve progress – in India and around the world.”
Prime Minister Modi reiterated that the rules were in the best interests of farmers in his address to the nation on Guru Nanak Jayanti and then apologized to the people of the country, saying that despite his good heart and a clean conscience, the administration was unable to persuade a segment of farmers.
