Hero MotoCorp reveals a new identity for its EV arm; names it Vida

Vida, Hero MotoCorp’s electric car and emerging mobility solutions branch, received a new brand identity on Friday. Vida’s first electric vehicle will be released in July, according to the company.

Following a 2010 family settlement, Hero MotoCorp promoter and Chairman Pawan Munjal were forbidden from using the ‘Hero’ brand name on any electric two-, three-, or four-wheelers manufactured by his company.

Pawan Munjal’s cousin Vinay Munjal and his son Naveen Munjal, who manage Hero Electric, received the global rights to Hero’s EVs.

Vida’s brand identity, as well as the ‘sunrise’ logo, were unveiled during a carbon-free event on Thursday evening. Pawan Munjal also unveiled a $100 million ‘Global Sustainability Fund,’ led by BML Munjal University (BMU) and Hero MotoCorp, to build global relationships. The fund intends to support over 10,000 entrepreneurs working on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues.

Hero MotoCorp will present its plans for new mobility solutions as part of Vida. The first of these will be an electric car, which will be unveiled on July 1 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Hero MotoCorp Chairman Emeritus Dr. Brijmohan Lall.

Vida’s first electric vehicle will be built at Chittoor, the company’s green manufacturing facility. Dispatches will commence in 2022, according to the company.
