Petrol and Diesel Prices have remained constant for more than two weeks.

For more than two weeks, the price of petrol and diesel has been unchanged. On Sunday, November 21, 2021, the state-run oil marketing corporations (OMCs) left fuel rates steady, providing a welcome relief to consumers who had been hammered by record-high retail fuel costs.

Since the central government announced the reduction in excise duty on gasoline and diesel, prices have remained unchanged. Many NDA-ruled states proposed a Value Added Tax (VAT) on fuel rates after the excise duty on petrol and diesel was lowered by Rs 5 and Rs 10, respectively, on November 3. Before it, gasoline and diesel prices had reached all-time highs.

Petrol is selling for Rs 103.97 in the national capital, according to the Indian Oil Corporation, the country’s largest fuel marketer. Diesel costs less than Rs 100 a litre in Delhi, with one litre costing Rs 86.67.

Petrol and diesel rates in India’s financial capital, Mumbai, were the highest of the four metro areas, at Rs 109.98 and Rs 94.14, respectively.

Similarly, a litre of petrol costs Rs 101.56 in Chennai, while diesel costs Rs 91.58. In Kolkata, however, the price of petrol has stayed unchanged at Rs 104.67 per litre, while diesel costs Rs 89.79. Among the four metro cities, the cheapest gasoline is found in Chennai, and the cheapest diesel is found in the national capital.
