IIM CAT 2021: Minimum marks eligibility criteria removed

Changes have been made to the qualifying requirements for the Common Admission Test 2021 at IIM Ahmedabad. On the application form, candidates who earned “promotion/pass” certificates in any of the previous two years of their bachelor’s degree instead of “award of marks” certificates can select “promotion or pass.”

The candidate will be able to complete and submit the CAT 2021 application form after completing this step. This modification of eligibility also applies to students in their final year who have been “awarded” grades.

This exemption is offered exclusively to candidates who are finishing the bachelor’s degree this year or are in the last year’s bachelor’s program (graduation years – 2021 and 2022).

To cope with the epidemic, several universities and colleges have changed their grading standards in recent years, according to the institution. Universities provided “promotion/pass” certificates instead of “marks” certificates since examinations were not held and students were promoted.

Due to the aforementioned implementation and considering varied assessment procedures used by different institutions across the nation due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the CAT Committee has also abolished the minimum percentage of marks (45 percent and 50 percent) for appearing for the CAT 2021 test.

“This announcement is only applicable to the eligibility criteria for writing the CAT 2021. Candidates are advised to look at and follow respective institution-specific admission policy,” the official notification reads.
