Silver for Singhraj, gold for Manish at Paralympics

Manish Narwal and Singhraj Adana of India won two gold in the men’s P4 mixed 50m pistol SH1. Manish Narwal won the gold medal, while Singhraj Adana took home the silver. India now has 15 medals at the current Paralympics in Tokyo.

With a score of 218.2, Manish won the gold medal, setting a new Paralympic record in the process. India’s Singhraj Adana came just short of victory in the final, with 216.7 points.

Earlier, the two Indian shooters performed admirably in the qualification round to get to the final. After six series, Manish had 533-7x points, while Singhraj had 536-4x points.

A second medal for Singhraj, who earned a bronze in the P1 men’s 10m air pistol SH1 event on Tuesday.

After the qualification round, Singhraj was in fourth place, while Manish was in seventh place. Akash, another Indian shooter, finished with 507-3x points and failed to qualify for the finals.

In the present Games, Indian shooters have won five medals, including two gold.

Because the handgun is held with one hand only, athletes in the SH1 category have a disability that affects one arm and/or legs, such as amputations or spinal cord injuries. P4 is a mixed 50m air pistol competition classification.
