Nutrition is something simple that is often complicated by so many people, but for those who are always in between meetings or catching flights from one city to another, the easiest thing that could slip would be eating habits.
This National Nutrition Week is the perfect opportunity to make the decision to keep things simple, educate yourself on what your body needs, be health-conscious, eat clean, do not eliminate any food group from your diet, and if you cannot avoid travel and being constantly on the move, carry your food with you instead of ordering food.
Sohrab Khushrushahi, the founder and coach at SOHFIT, said in an interview that “We all have a choice when it comes to eating, we simply need to choose the wiser one.”
He made a few recommendations for things to consider while travelling:
- Bring food from home, including any snacks you want to consume; it takes up some space but is quite helpful.
- Drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated and stave off hunger.
- Try to limit your alcohol consumption at work gatherings and on nights out. It’s acceptable to have one or two drinks, but not more and not every day.
- When ordering from a restaurant or going out to eat during a conference, be cautious. During those group lunches and dinners, don’t be shy to place a separate order for yourself.
