Each year, 3,000 young Indian professionals are granted work visas by the UK government, which is headed by Rishi Sunak. The UK will provide 3,000 places under the UK-India Young Professionals Scheme for degree-holding Indian nationals between the ages of 18 and 30 to come to the UK and live and work there for two years.
The UK Prime Minister’s Office tweeted, “Today the UK-India Young Professionals Scheme was confirmed, offering 3,000 places to 18-30-year-old degree-educated Indian nationals to come to the UK to live and work for up to two years.”
This plan will be mutually beneficial. The UK has more connections to India than any other nation, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office of the United Kingdom. Nearly 95,000 employment are supported by Indian investment in the UK, where about a quarter of all international students come from India.
In the year ending June 2022, over 118,000 Indian students received a UK student visa, an increase of 89% from the previous year, according to UK Home Office figures. The British government has stated that it is enhancing its power to deport immigration criminals.
The meeting between Prime Ministers Rishi Sunak and Narendra Modi took place on Tuesday during the G20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia. After Sunak took over in October, they met for the first time. A free trade agreement (FTA) worth 24 billion pounds is also being negotiated by the UK and India.
