India’s tour this summer has been postponed till later next year. According to New Zealand Cricket, the three-match ODI series has been postponed because of the intense cricket schedule that took place during the Covid-19 era. The Indian cricket team, led by Virat Kohli, will pay a visit to the country next year. They were slated to meet three times in the new 2023 ODI super league.
InsideSport.co has learned that the postponement is due to BCCI not being able to spare a window for the squad to go to New Zealand.
Meanwhile, New Zealand will go to the UAE after the IPL 2021 season to play a bilateral series with India. That series will be played as arranged.
A spokesman for the New Zealand Cricket confirmed that India will not be traveling this season in accordance with the FTP and would fulfill their duties later in 2022, following the next scheduled men’s Twenty20 World Cup in Australia in November.
NZC chief executive David White previously told Stuff that the league needed to be conscious of players returning from an extended winter break and give them time at home as well.
Last season, New Zealand welcomed teams from the West Indies, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Australia (both men and women), and the women of England, all of which were awarded MIQ spots.
